Parents Frequently Asked Questions

How is joining a colony different?

A colony is a brand new chapter-to-be! Participation in a colony experience grants the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be a founding member of a Sorority chapter, and leave your legacy on campus. At the end of the semester, all new members are initiated into the Sisterhood of Alpha Sigma Tau, and the colony will be installed as an official chapter and receive its charter from the National Organization.

What is the time commitment of being a member?

Investing time in Alpha Sigma Tau allows you to reap the benefits of membership including lifelong friendship, personal and professional development, and Sisterhood. Initially, new member meetings are once a week, which will help new members learn the "ins and outs" of Alpha Sigma Tau. Sisterhood events are offered throughout the semester, which are just for fun! After the new member program is completed, chapters host weekly chapter meetings, along with other social, recruitment, philanthropy, and Sisterhood events of the chapter's choice.
